Project Info

Target Platforms: PC. Later, if I can acquire licenses for them, I want to port to PS4 and Xbox One so that console gamers can also enjoy this game. No tablets or smartphones, though. I don't think my game will be able to run on a phone.

Engine: Unreal Engine 4.

Expected Release: Probably in a year if I'm developing full-time. However, depending on how things go, it can take longer.

The Team: Just me. That's why it's going to take a while.

Expected Budget: This is my first project that might cost money to make, so I'm not experienced enough to estimate a budget. If I keep the scope small, buy most of my assets off of the Unreal Marketplace and only commission custom art assets (like characters), my budget for assets may range from $1000-2000. My game won't have a very high production value, but at least I'll have a somewhat finished game to ship. However, I also need to take into account my living expenses as well. Right now, my cost of living is about $300 per month (I don't pay rent, only utilities). For a year, that's $3600 in costs. Factoring living expenses with production costs, my expected budget comes out to be at most $5600. However, I also need to upgrade from my laptop to a desktop because my laptop is having difficulties handling the Unreal editor. I expect a decent PC might cost around $900 to build from scratch, so that brings my total to $6500. That's how much I'm going to need to get this project completed in 12 months.
[Edit] I forgot to include money for food (about $200 per month). I would actually need a budget of $8900.

Current Funding: $0.00. That's why I'm going to do the best I can right now so that I can start a Kickstarter campaign and apply for an Unreal Dev Grant.
